Bruno da Silva

Bruno Miguel Martins da Silva was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on 7th September 1985. He is half Portuguese, half Angolan and he has 2 younger Brazilian brothers.

Bruno lived his childhood and teenage years between Brazil and Portugal. With a keen interest in photography. Bruno started photographing when he was a teenager. He was given his first SLR 35mm camera by his parents in 2002. The year 2007 was a big year of change in his photography as he bought himself his first digital SLR camera.

In his work, Bruno is inspired by history, in part due to his humanities studies. He draws inspiration from cultural movements such as the Renaissance and Modernism and their visual arts movements such as paintings, sculpture and architecture, amongst others. Other sources of inspiration include music, filmmaking, advertising and the fashion industry. Bruno is particularly keen on portraiture, street and food photography.

Thus far he never studied photography but he intends to study for a degree in an area related to photography and video in the future.

Having left Portugal, he is currently living in the UK, a country which is opening up opportunities to develop and get on with his career.
